What type of business events would be appropriate for a "balloon party"?

Birthday parties, moon glows, specialty events, any children's events, fundraisers, fairs, etc. We have found that nothing draws a crowd as quickly as a hot-air balloon. So, if attracting people to your event is your goal, we can easily meet that need for you.

I've noticed that some balloons fly company banners. Is this something that my business can do?

Absolutely! We gladly fly sponsor banners. Clown-N-Around can fly banners on the basket or on the actual envelope of the balloon. Banners range in size, but are usually 15 x 30 ft. Please feel free to contact us regarding pricing options.

My business is not located in an open field. How much room is needed to inflate a balloon?

To inflate Clown-N-Around, we need at least 50 yards in length (half of a football field) and approximately 30 yards wide. If you have concerns regarding the space that you have available, please contact us. We would be more than happy to do an on-site review.

I've heard that many events offer tether rides. What does a tether ride entail?

Tethering a balloon means that the balloon is anchored. Ropes, or tether lines, are run from the balloon itself to at least three fixed points. Generally, heavy vehicles, such as 4x4 trucks or cars with trailer hitches, are preferred. The balloon, with passengers inside, is then allowed to fly to a height of roughly 100 feet. Riders are given a taste of what a full SunKiss ballooning experience has to offer.

Does an event of this nature pose liability risks for my company?

No, there is no risk to your company. We carry A++ insurance and have all the maximums that insurance company sells. We can also add any company as additional insured.

Are all hot air balloons alike?

All hot air balloons consist of a burner system, a basket and an envelope. The differences are in the shape and size of the envelope, the deflation system, the basket shape/design, and the configuration/design of the burner system.

Can I smoke in or around a hot air balloon?

It's not advisable because of the possibility of propane fires or explosions. The balloon fabric can also be damaged by a stray spark or hot ash. There is a strict non-smoking rule at most balloon festivals.

What are envelopes made of?

Rip-stop nylon is the most common material. Polyester and other fabrics are sometimes used. The lower portions around the opening are usually made from a fire resistant material like Nomex, similar to what race car drivers and firemen wear.

Do you need a licence to fly a balloon?

Yes. A Balloon Pilot Certificate is issued by the Federal Aviation Administration in the USA. You must pass an FAA written exam, obtain a prescribed number of hours of instruction, make a solo flight, a flight to a specific altitude and pass a flight test. You don't have to be able to fly an airplane since it is a completely different type of aircraft, although many balloon pilots also fly other types of aircraft like airplanes and helicopters.
